Ron Crevling shows his home 2 weeks after daring rescue

Posted: Updated:

Just two weeks ago, Kalama River Road was the site of a daring rescue.

Ron Crevling showed Fox 12 what is left of his home after it was swept away by a landslide.

Crevling was trying to channel water from recent flooding away from his home, when the earth shook and a landslide was heading right for him.

Crevling found himself trapped under a car, unable to move or breathe.

"It got to the point where it felt like I was going to pass out, because I had no air. I stopped for a minute and thought, "Well, God is this what you want?" Crevling said.

He then found room by his feet to move, find air, and a possible way out.

Three and a half hours after the slide, a road crew working above the house heard his yells.

The road crew had just finished their own rescue after a man working an excavator was swept away by the same slide.

"Eventually they got to me, the road crew. They are my heroes,” said Crevling.

His house may be gone, but Crevling knows he is a lucky man, he escaped without any serious injuries.
