LAS VEGAS (KPTV) -

Four members of Pacific University’s wrestling team were among those struck when a car crashed into a crowd of people on the sidewalk along the Las Vegas Strip Sunday evening.

The team is in Las Vegas for a wrestling tournament this week. A spokesman for Pacific University told Fox 12 that three student athletes were transported to the hospital, and all are expected to be OK.

The spokesman said the wrestlers were hit as the team was walking back to their hotel after seeing a movie. The team did have an event scheduled for Monday, but will not be participating. No names were released.

Fox 12 has also confirmed that a man from Forest Grove who works with the wrestling team was also hurt in the crash. He is in Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas in stable condition. Friends told Fox 12 he helps coach the wrestlers at Pacific University and is a recent graduate of the school.

The crash occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Las Vegas Boulevard in front of the Paris Hotel & Casino. Las Vegas police say a car veered onto the sidewalk and then hit a crowd of people. One person was confirmed dead and 36 others were injured.

The driver fled but has been taken into custody, according to police.
