PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Monday’s stormy conditions brought winds gusts up to 65 mph throughout Portland and the surrounding areas and for many trees, the wind was too much to handle.

Transportation officials said trees were down along roadways including I-84 in Hood River and Troutdale, Highway 26 near Manning, and I-5 in southwest Washington.

A large oak tree came down along Valley Crest Way in Forest Grove, crushing a car and ripping up the sidewalk.

Neighbors said they were concerned when they saw the large oaks trees in the area swaying violently.

Another large tree came down on a home in Forest Grove, crushing through the roof and living room.

Three people were inside at the time but officials said no one was hurt.

Trees also fell in many other areas including northeast Portland, St. Helens, Longview and Woodland.

Fortunately no injuries have been reported but crews are working to clean up the debris.

Weather experts said the recent heavy rainfall and ground saturation likely caused the trees to fall so easily.

December 2015 is also the wettest month ever recorded in Portland with 21 days of straight rainfall.
