PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A sink hole 20-feet deep has opened up on Beef Bend Road west of Highway 99w.

The sink hole is located on Beef Bend Road at 146th Avenue, about 1.7 miles west of Hwy 99w.

Officials said the hole is only about two feet in diameter but it opens up underneath the road. Water can be seen at the bottom, as well as a broken section of culvert and several utilities.

All travelers, including bicyclists and pedestrians, will need to use an alternate route like Bull Mountain Road.

Officials said inspectors and engineers are assessing the road and will develop a repair plan.

The road may remain closed for some time.
