PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Search and rescue crews were combing hiking trails near Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge Wednesday in the hopes of finding a Portland woman who has been missing since Saturday, Dec. 19.

Portland police said Alissa Marie McCrann, 37, left her home in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood Saturday morning and hasn't been seen since. She never showed up for work on Monday.

On Tuesday, investigators said her car was found at Multnomah Falls and on Wednesday, hikers reported seeing a woman who looked like McCrann on Saturday on Franklin Ridge, about 12 miles from Multnomah Falls.

The hikers said the woman was wearing only running clothes.

Search and rescue crews used tracking dogs to try to find McCrann Tuesday, but didn't turn up a scent. They abandoned the search overnight and resumed Wednesday morning, focusing on the Franklin Ridge area.

Some 40 searchers were said to be looking for McCrann by ground,  even battling the snow at times.  Crews say they had a plane fly over the area earlier in the day, but the pilot found no signs of McCrann anywhere.

"For me personally, my mind goes to  a dark place not knowing anything, but knowing her car was found," said friend Anne Goodrich. "I'm just hoping she's lost, or hurt, but will make it home."

"I have no doubt in my mind she's fighting if she's out there," said friend Anne Van Hulle. "We just have to find her quick,  the days are counting now and shes out in the cold."

Police said they don't have any information to suggest foul play in McCrann's disappearance at this point in their investigation.

McCrann is described as 5'3", 145 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, and normally wears glasses.

Anyone who sees McCrann is asked to call 911 immediately. Anyone hiking around Multnomah Falls who saw McCrann is asked to contact police at 503-823-3333.

Friends of McCrann spent the day taping up fliers in the area hoping it help brings her home.  If you would like to help with their efforts visit: https://www.facebook.com/findalissa/?fref=ts
