PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A pair of theft suspects caught on camera swiping a package of homemade caramel corn from the front porch of a home near Oregon City are now facing criminal charges, according to deputies.

Last week, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office released surveillance of a woman getting out of a car on the 17000 block of South Potter Road in the Redland area, walking up to a home while smoking a cigarette, grabbing a package and taking off.

Through tips from the public, deputies identified the woman in the video as 29-year-old Kierra Mitchell and the driver of the car as 33-year-old Joshua Howard, both of Portland.

Their car was described as a black 2004 Volvo S60, the same as the car seen in the video.

The car was found by detectives in Portland, only they said it had been painted to change its appearance with two large white stripes and the wheels were also painted white.

As detectives watched the car, Howard was seen getting inside and driving away. When deputies attempted to stop him, there was a short chase that ended when the car crashed into a parked truck, according to the sheriff's office.

Howard was treated for injuries he sustained in the crash and booked in the Multnomah County Jail on an outstanding warrant. He is also facing additional charges including theft of mail and attempt to elude.

Deputies said Mitchell has been interviewed by detectives and has agreed to turn herself in. She is facing the charge of theft of mail, as well, which is a class C felony.

Investigators said the package they were caught on camera taking contained homemade caramel corn sent by a relative of the intended recipient.
