PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police are investigating the death of a 21-year-old man who fell from the balcony of a downtown Portland building.

The incident occurred just after 6 a.m. Thursday. Officers responded to the Vue Apartments, located at 1717 Southwest Park Avenue, on the report that a man fell from the ninth floor balcony and landed on Southwest Mill Street.

Responding officers saw the man down in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Part of SW Mill Street and 10th Avenue were closed while officers conducted their investigation. Office believe the fall was accidental and that alcohol may have been a factor.

The man’s name will be released after the Oregon State Medical Examiner conducts an autopsy and notifies the man’s family of his death.
