Highway 42 closed indefinitely after landslide

Posted: Updated:
COOS COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Highway 42 in southern Oregon is closed indefinitely after a landslide caused the roadway to buckle.

ODOT described the two-lane highway as ‘peanut brittle’.

They closed the highway Thursday after workers noticed some trees crackling, and a half hour later, the slide hit.

Drivers heading for the southern coast from Grants Pass have to find a new route.
