Police: Three people killed after SUV collides with train near Union

UNION COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a train and SUV on Tuesday.

The crash happened south of Union in Union County around 2:54 p.m.

OSP said a Union Pacific Railroad train was traveling eastbound and approaching the Curtis Road and Miller Lane crossing when for unknown reasons, a blue Jeep Cherokee traveling east on Curtis Road, turned onto Miller Lane, in the path of the train.

The train hit the Cherokee and all three occupants, as well as a dog, were ejected.

All occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

The names of the three occupants have not yet been released.
