PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A tree fell onto Highway 26 near the Oregon Zoo Thursday morning, blocking traffic in the middle of the busy morning commute.

ODOT said the tree also brought power lines down onto the road with it when it fell around 8 a.m..

Officials closed all lanes of the highway in both directions because of the debris. The westbound lanes were reopened shortly before 9 a.m. and crews were able to get all the eastbound lanes back open by noon.

The eastbound on-ramp remained closed as Portland General Electric crews worked to repair the downed power pole and lines.
