Two injured; residents in 12 units displaced after Tigard apartment fire

TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

Two people are in the hospital after crews responded to a fire at a Tigard apartment complex located at 11200 southwest Greenburg Road just after 3 a.m., according to Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue.

Initial callers reported heavy smoke and flames coming from a balcony with people yelling for help.

One person was hurt in the fire, and a female resident jumped from a third story apartment just before firefighters’ arrival, according to fire crews.

Officials said both residents were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injures.

According to Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, additional firefighters continued to search apartments, evacuate residents and extinguish the fire.

The fire completely destroyed one apartment, and adjacent apartments sustained smoke and water damage, according to fire crews.

Residents in 12 apartments were displaced, according to Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
