Deputies: Crash near Stayton injures teen driver

MARION COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Deputies were called to investigate a crash on southeast Fernridge Road and Siegmund Road near Stayton at around 1:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived, they found a Nissan Passenger torn into two pieces.

Officials said the driver was pinned inside the vehicle and had to be extracted by firefighters. He was then taken to a local hospital, and was later transferred to OHSU.

The driver, Timothy Colblentz, 17, of Stayton is in critical condition according to deputies, but is expected to survive his injuries.

Colblentz on his way home from a gathering with friends when he left the roadway and hit a tree, according to deputies.

Deputies believe speed was the only contributing factor to the crash, and no citations have been issued.
