Vancouver man arrested for child pornography, online exploitation charges

A 20-year-old Vancouver man was arrested for numerous felony charges involving child pornography and online child exploitation after an investigation was done by local and federal officials.

Vancouver Police Department said Zachary William Akers is accused of befriending several young females over Facebook, then threatened to expose private messages and compromising photographs he had received, to the victims friends and families unless they agreed to send him lewd pictures and videos, or meet him to have sexual relations.

Police said Akers sent images of child pornography he had obtained to other people over the internet.

Akers used Facebook account names Zachary Akers and Lane Bentley to solicit victims.

A search warrant on Akers cell phone, laptop computer and Facebook accounts revealed a long list of minor female victims, many of which have not yet been identified, according to police.

Detectives are asking that anyone who feels they may be the victim of this type of crime involving Akers, or anyone who may have information about one of these cases, should contact Det. David Jensen of the Digital Evidence Cyber-crimes Unit at

Detectives from the Vancouver Police Department/Clark Co. Sheriffs Office Digital Evidence Cyber-crimes Unit, Camas Police, Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation worked together on this case.
