PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The strong wind is causing problems for people in the Portland metro area, and it caused trees fell on two homes in northeast Portland Saturday morning.

The first tree fell on northeast 92nd place near Burnside, where the tree broke off the base and landed on a home.

Later, a part of a tree fell between two homes and barely missed a car nearby on northeast 173rd near Glisan.

No word on how much damage was done to the homes, but in both cases nobody was hurt.

The wind has also been causing power outages around the Portland metro area.

As of 9:30 Saturday morning, Portland General Electric is reporting more than 1,000 customers in Clackamas County are without power, more than 3,300 without power in Washington County, and just 13 customers in the dark in Multnomah County.

If you do see a downed or sagging power line you want to stay away and call PGE immediately at 503-464-7777 or 800-544-1795.

PGE reminds people to assume any downed line is live and dangerous.

If you are in your car and a line falls on the car, stay inside and wait for help to arrive, but if you have to get out because of fire, you want to jump clear from the car with both feet together, then shuffle or hop away from the car and power line
