Snow in the Portland metro area brings travel delays

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The snow is creating a lot of traffic delays in the Portland metro area:

TriMet is experiencing delays on buses and MAX trains as well:

Portland Streetcar service was halted due to weather conditions:

PBOT is warning the public to be prepared for with winter weather when traveling, and to use caution, slow down, and do not abandon your vehicle in a travel lane.

Vehicles blocking travel lanes can delay emergency responders, and causes traffic congestion.

PBOT emphasizes that those who are not experienced at driving in snow or icy conditions should avoid the roads.

Snow accumulations since Sunday morning are expected to remain on the streets throughout the day and into the evening.

According to the Port of Portland, you may also need to check to see if your flight is going out. Some flights were canceled Sunday morning, and there have been a few more cancellations going into the evening.

If you're planning on taking public transportation Monday morning, bundle up and give yourself extra time. TriMet says buses will not be on schedule and MAX lines may be delayed due to weather issues.
