Police: Man robbed, assaulted along Highway 30

ST. HELENS, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police need help identifying a suspect after he robbed and assaulted a man along Highway 30 on Dec. 21.

OSP said Charles Rice, 60 from St. Helens, had stopped his black Chevy pickup near the Deer Island Scales to help a disabled motorist when he was robbed and assaulted. Rice was eventually helped by a Good Samaritan.

The incident happened near milepost 33, between 5:45 a.m. to 7:20 a.m.

Police said the suspects vehicle is described as a dark colored Toyota type SUV, unknown Idaho license plates and had a decal with a stick figure family with an adult, an animal and two kids on the left corner of the rear window.

The suspect is described as a white male mid 20's, 5'10", with slicked back blond hair, a large round ear lobe piercing, wearing a camouflage jacket with dark fur around the hood and black cargo style pants.

OSP is asking for the public's assistance with locating the suspect, the suspect's vehicle, the Good Samaritan and anyone who may have seen the suspect vehicle on the morning of Dec. 21 parked at the Deer Island Scales.
