Icy roads still threaten morning commuters in Portland metro

Posted: Updated:
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Although road conditions Tuesday are significantly better, drivers are not out of the woods yet.

Areas like the West Hills and Troutdale are still seeing large amounts of ice on the road.

Higher elevations and areas near the Columbia River Gorge may not see ice thawing until later today.

Spots near the Gorge could see some freezing rain in the morning hours which may make I-84 and I-205 slick.

Transportation officials are encouraging drivers to still use caution.

Several school districts are delayed two hours including Portland Public Schools, Beaverton, Hillsboro and Tigard school districts.

Reynolds and Corbett school districts are both closed Tuesday. See full closure list here.

Sunday’s storm brought snow and freezing rain to the Portland metro, creating many traffic problems and closures.

Some showers are expected in the morning and evening hours Tuesday. Sunny conditions are expected to be back later this wee with temperatures in the low to mid 40’s.
