PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police are searching for a man who hit a woman over the head and sexually assaulted her in the Woodstock neighborhood early in the morning on New Year's Day.

The woman told police she was attacked near Southeast 47th and Woodstock Boulevard at 3:30 a.m. Friday.

The woman went to the hospital for treatment and then called police to file a report.

The 37-year-old victim described the suspect as a white man in his 20s with a thin build and "dark and greasy" short hair. He was wearing a "Pork Army" patch on the back of his "gas-attendant-style" jacket.

The victim told investigators that her attacker also smelled of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes.

Police released a sketch of the suspect Tuesday.

Anyone with information on this incident or the suspect's identity is asked to contact Detective Cory Stenzel at 503-823-0453 or cory.stenzel@portlandoregon.gov.

"Stranger-to-stranger sexual assaults fortunately are a rare occurrence," according to a Portland Police Bureau release.
