CORVALLIS, OR (KPTV) -

A passenger died in a two-car crash on Highway 20 just east of Corvallis on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the highway near Circle Boulevard at 12:56 p.m.

Investigators said a 2010 Mazda Miata was heading east on the highway when the driver, 67-year-old Scott Manning Davis of Sweet Home, attempted to turn left on Circle Boulevard at a green light.

The car collided with a westbound 2004 Honda Pilot. Deputies said the Honda also had a green light and had the right of way in the intersection.

A passenger, 62-year-old Connie Lee Davis of Sweet Home, was trapped in the Miata after the crash. Firefighters got her out and she was taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Scott Davis was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered critical. The driver of the Honda Pilot, 77-year-old Gordon Bollinger of Corvallis, was not taken to the hospital.

The investigation is continuing, but deputies said drugs, alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Sgt. Toby Bottorff at 541-766-6858.

Traffic was re-routed around the scene for an hour following the crash.
