PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A man already in jail is now facing additional charges including attempted murder for a shooting in southeast Portland last November.

Antonio Lynell Lawrence, 24, is set to be arraigned Friday on the new charges. Those charges also include second-degree assault, felon in possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.

The investigation began on Nov. 14, 2015, when officers responded to a report of a shooting at 2:21 a.m. on the 12000 block of Southeast Ash Street.

A 22-year-old victim was located suffering from a serious gunshot injury. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and eventually released.

Witnesses told police the suspect displayed gang-related hand signs and used gang-affiliated language before running from the area.

The Gang Enforcement Team responded to investigate. Detectives working with the victim and witness information led to probable cause to arrest Lawrence for the shooting, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Lawrence was already in custody at the Multnomah County Jail on Thursday for unrelated crimes.
