BENTON COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Deputies are investigating two serious injury crashes that happened Thursday evening, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

This is in addition to the two fatal crashes that have occurred in Benton County in the last two weeks, according to deputies.

Just after 6 p.m. Thursday, a 17-year-old male from Monroe was driving southbound on Bellfountain Road, just south of Airport Avenue in a 2006 Toyota Camry Solara Coupe, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and went into a ditch on the east side of the roadway, according to deputies.

The driver’s side of the car then collided with a large tree.

Deputies said medics from the Philomath Fire Department extracted both the driver and 15-year-old passenger from the car.

Both the driver and passenger were taken to a local hospital. The driver suffered serious injuries, and the passenger suffered critical injuries.

According to deputies, speed may have been a factor in the crash.

Deputies are still continuing to investigate the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant David Peterson at 541-766-6820.

Deputies also responded to a single vehicle crash Thursday just after 5 p.m. on Highway 34 at milepost 45 in Alsea.

The driver, David Patrick Clark, 39, of Alsea had driven off the highway into a small creek, according to deputies.

He was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Clark was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Benton County Deputies want to emphasize the importance of diving sober, slower, attentive, and aware.
