LINN COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A man died after a single car crash north of Scio in Linn County, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to the deadly crash on Stayton Scio Road near the intersection of Sandner Road just after 9:30 Friday night.

They say the driver, Michael James Robinson, 57, of Scio, died at the scene.

Deputies said Robinson was traveling south on Stayton Scio Road and failed to negotiate a sweeping corner.

His car left the roadway and dropped down a step ditch, and the front end then got caught in the soft ground which caused it to flip end-over-end.

The car then hit a pine tree sheering it off six feet above the ground, causing Robinson to be thrown from the car, according to deputies.

The car continued to tumble until it came to stop against a home on Sandner Road, causing minor damages to the home.

No one inside the home was hurt.

Deputies said it is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Robinson was not wearing a seat belt, according to deputies.
