Police: Two killed in crash involving parked semi-truck

Two people were killed in a crash involving a parked semi-truck in Grants Pass Friday evening, according to Oregon State Police.

According to OSP, officers responded to the crash on Highland Avenue near the intersection of Donaldson Road just after 9:40 p.m.

After investigation, officials said a 1998 Ford F-150 was traveling south on Highland Avenue, when it sideswiped a semi-trailer parked on the right shoulder near the intersection of Merlin Road.

The Ford continued south on Highland Avenue for approximately 400 feet before stopping on the right shoulder of the road at the intersection of Donaldson Road.

OSP said the driver of the Ford F-150 fled the scene after the crash.

The front passenger, Megan Becklund, 32, of Grants Pass, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officers. The rear passenger, Jeremy Pearson, 36, of Ashland was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the driver has not been released at this time.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to Oregon State Police.
