A U.S. Coast Guard crew rescued a kayaker along the Oregon coast Sunday after he became stranded on a rock formation.

The rescue took place near Devil’s Punch Bowl State Park around 1 p.m.

Officials said the kayaker had capsized due to strong currents a waves and became separated from the rest of his group. He then climbed up onto a few rocks south of the cove, according to officials.

The rescue team from North Bend said they arrived at the scene but were unable to reach the man’s location at first.

The Coast Guard deployed a rescue swimmer who was able to hoist the kayaker off of the rocks and transport him to a nearby scenic overlook.

The kayaker did not suffer any injuries.
