PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Several blocks of Southeast Division Street were closed in Portland Tuesday morning due to a fatal crash.

Portland police said a woman in her 80s was riding a motorized scooter and crossing Division at 156th Avenue in a crosswalk when she was hit by a Honda SUV a little after 7:30 a.m.

Medical personnel tried to revive the victim, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.

Portland police closed Division between 148th and 162nd avenues while they investigated the crash. Officers expected the closure to last several hours.

Drivers can use Southeast Stark or Powell Boulevard as alternate routes through that area.
