BATTLE GROUND, WA (KPTV) -

A Battle Ground Police Department K9 will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

K9 Luca, who is a 4-year-old German Shepherd, will receive the vest. The vest is sponsored by Amber Will from Vancouver.

Luca has spent his K9 career at BGPD with his partner Sgt. Chris Crouch. During his time at BGPD, he has been on over 125 deployments, including 5 SWAT deployments and has secured over 40 arrests and narcotic finds.

BGPD said when Luca is not pursuing bad guys, he visits local schools to demonstrate his special skills, athleticism, and charming personality.

"We are so grateful for this generous donation," remarked Sgt. Crouch, "It will provide an added level of safety and security for Luca".

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc is a charity located in East Taunton, MA whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies in the U.S.
