AUMSVILLE, OR (KPTV) -

Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested an Aumsville man after a month long animal abuse investigation.

The investigation began on Dec. 19, when deputies were alerted to a group of neglected animals at a home located in the 9300 block of Lewis Road SE.

Deputies contacted the owner of the animals Arne Seim, 74. They worked together with Seim and a veterinarian from the United Society for Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (USPCA) to help the ailing animals.

MCSO said deputies and the vet gave Seim 30 days to get weight on the animals. Deputies returned to Seim's property twice a week to try to help him and bring the animals back to a healthy state.

On Jan. 2, deputies and the vet returned and inspected the animals.

MCSO said during the inspection Seim voluntarily gave up 2 goats and 1 cow.

MCSO said deputies continued to work with Seim but he was unable to take care of the animals and refused to cooperate with investigators.

On Jan. 9, deputies executed a search warrant and seized 15 sheep, 28 goats, 15 cows, 1 dog, 1 chicken, and 1 cat.

Seim was issued a citation and is set to appear in court on Feb. 8 for charges of animal neglect II, a felony.

The animals taken from Seim's property are being taken care of by the USPCA, Harmony New Beginnings, Sunrise Acres Farm Sanctuary, Green Acres Farm Sanctuary, and Wildwood Farm Sanctuary.
