GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

The City of Gresham announced that NE Kane Drive is expected to reopen and be available to commuters Thursday morning.

A section of NE Kane Drive was closed for over a month due to a sinkhole that collapsed part of the roadway.

The sinkhole happened on Dec. 7 after Gresham saw nearly six inches of rainfall in a 72-hour period.

City of Gresham said to get the road reopened, contractors first had to move approximately 16,000 tons of material, and dump trucks made nearly 800 trips to and from the site to excavate and deliver rock, gravel and supplies.
