CORVALLIS, OR (KPTV) -

Corvallis Police responded to a shooting that killed one person and injured another Friday night.

Police responded to the shooting, located in the 1100 block of NW 9th Street, at around 7:45 p.m.

When police arrived they found Jason Scott Williams, 29, of Corvallis and was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.

A 35-year-old female victim from Forest Grove sustained a minor injury during the shooting. She was treated at a local hospital and later released.

According to Corvallis Police, the female victim and Williams were acquaintances, and had been at the restaurant together prior to the shooting.

Williams' grandfather, Don Williams, lives in Beaverton and heard about the shooting in the news.  He said he recently helped his grandson and his fiancee move from Yakima, Washington.

"(She) sent me an email, saying she was right there and saw the whole thing and everything like that, and she’s scared spitless.  She doesn’t know what the heck to do," said Williams.

The investigation is ongoing and considered a homicide.

Corvallis Police, Benton County Sheriff's Deputies, Benton County Search and Rescue, and the Linn Benton Major Crime team continue to investigate and search for evidence at the scene.
