Suspect dies after officer involved shooting in Beaverton

BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

Officers had to close Murray Boulevard between Osprey and Weir in both directions for several hours due to an officer involved shooting, according to Beaverton Police.

According to Beaverton Police, officers responded to the report of an unwanted person at the 10100 block of SW Murray at around 5 a.m. Saturday. The suspect left the area, but later returned with a weapon at around 7 a.m.

Police said the male suspect was threatening towards officers and advanced towards them. The officers, after repeatedly ordering the man to drop his weapon, fired shots at around 7:25 a.m.

The suspect, Adam Karjalainen, 44, was taken to a local hospital and later died. 

According to police, Murray Boulevard has now been re opened.
