STAYTON, OR (KPTV/AP) -

As search efforts continued, members of the Stayton community held a prayer vigil for a missing U.S. Marine from the small Oregon town Saturday evening.

Lance Cpl. Ty Hart, 21, is one of 12 Marines still missing after two CH-52 choppers crashed late Thursday night.

The crews were taking part in a nighttime training mission off the north coast of Oahu.

Hart graduated from Stayton High School in 2012, and married to his wife, Hannah, seven months ago.

More than 100 people gathered at the Stayton High School football field Saturday evening to light candles and pray.

Devin Walker, Hart’s brother-in-law, said the entire family appreciates all the support they’ve received the last few days.

“It’s been constant support the whole time. The Marine Corps, the Navy, the local fire department in Hawaii. Search and rescue teams have done a fabulous job. We really appreciate it,” he said. “The local support and the outpouring has been unbelievable.”

The search to find the missing Marines still continues.
