Police investigate two overnight shootings on Portland's east side

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police are investigating two overnight shootings on Portland’s east side.

The first happened just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Northeast Knott Street near 111th Avenue. When officers arrived they found one car damaged by gunfire.

Officers talked to people at a party nearby, and learned that no one at the party had been injured, However, officers noted a second car had been damaged, and was driven to a different location.

Just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday police responded to reports of gunfire at Southeast 171st Avenue and Division Street.

The person calling 911 reported seeing someone down in the street, and that other people were running away.

Police and medical personnel found a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The man was taken to a Portland hospital, and is expected to recover.

The Portland Police Bureau's Gang Enforcement Team is investigating both shootings.

Investigators said at this point there is nothing to indicate the shootings are connected.
