Brookings man killed in motorhome crash on Hwy 101

CURRY COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A Brookings man was killed in a single car crash on Highway 101 Sunday, according to Oregon State Police.

Police said troopers responded to the crash near milepost 336, 5 miles south of Gold Beach at around 11:45 a.m.

According to police, a 2007 Gulfstream motorhome was traveling southbound when it left the road and went into a ditch.

An OSP Patrol Sergeant and an off duty nurse were first on the scene, and provided CPR to the driver until medical crews arrived.

The driver, Michael Gillette, 64, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Medical personnel speculates that Gillette had a medical emergency prior to the crash.

According to police, the passenger, Gillette’s 3-year-old grandson was uninjured in the crash.
