VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

Two families were displaced from their home after a fire destroyed a duplex in Vancouver.

Witnesses said the fire broke out at a building on southeast Olympia Avenue at around 4 a.m. Sunday morning.

Four adults, two kids, and a pet all were able to get out safely.

Witnesses believe the adults had been drinking.

The duplex is said to be a complete loss, according to fire crews.

Fire officials said the blaze started from improper use of extension cords.
