Committee proposes merging schools in Lake Oswego

Posted: Updated: Jan 19, 2016 12:37 PM

A citizens committee tasked with creating a report on the future of all Lake Oswego School District facilities proposed merging schools within the district.

According to the proposal, Lake Oswego Junior High School and Lake Oswego High School would combine with Lakeridge Junior High School and Lakeridge High School.

This would leave only one junior high school and one high school in the area. Junior high students would attend school at a renovated Lakeridge High School campus and all students would attend high school at the Lake Oswego campus, according to the proposal.

The committee proposes studying the impact of such a consolidation over the next 10 years.

District administrators and the school board have not had a meeting to discuss the proposal, which is just one being made by the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee.

The Long Range Facilities Planning Committee is meeting Wednesday to discuss all the details of the report. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Lakeridge High School library.
