Small fire damages Amtrak rail car in NW Portland

Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a fire located in a single 2 level sleeper rail car around 4:07 p.m. Tuesday.

When fire crews arrived to the Amtrak Station, located at 800 NW 6th Avenue, they found smoke coming from one rail car. The rest of the train had been disconnected from the car.

No one was inside the car and there are no reported injuries.

The fire was quickly extinguished.

PF&R investigators are working with railroad officials to determine the cause of the fire.
