PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Terri Horman, the stepmother of a Portland boy who went missing from his school more than five and a half years ago, gave her first public interview to People Magazine, saying police and the boy's biological parents need to stop focusing on her and work on finding Kyron Horman.

Terri Horman quickly became a focus of the investigation into Kyron Horman's case, but police have not made any arrests since starting the search for Kyron Horman on June 4, 2010.

Terri Horman has never been named as a suspect in the boy's disappearance.

Despite that, Terri Horman told People that investigators treated her as an outsider and never listened to her account of what happened.

"I have been in his life since he was three days old. He is every bit my son, and anybody who's been around he and I will tell you that's how it is," Terri Horman said.

"When police started questioning us, they took into account more what Kaine [Horman] and Desiree [Young] were saying as opposed to what I was saying, and I spent my days with him."

Terri Horman insists she cooperated completely throughout the investigation into Kyron's disappearance.

"I did everything I could; interviews, if you want to call it that, six, seven hours at a time, no breaks or anything like that. I didn't care. Whatever needed to be done, I was willing to do, and continued to do so for approximately three weeks without an attorney," Terri Horman said.

Desiree Young, Kyron's biological mother, said in the past that Terri Horman failed three polygraph tests in the days after the boy's disappearance.

Terri Horman told People that she failed the tests because she's deaf in one ear and had difficulty hearing the questions.

Terri Horman also said an alleged plot to hire someone to murder her ex-husband, Kaine Horman, was made up by someone with a personal vendetta against her.

"The answer is no. I never harmed my son. I never wanted to harm my husband," Terri Horman said.

"At what point are they going to realize I don't have the answers?" Terri Horman said. "They need to change this around. They need to focus on finding him."
