Police ID 58-year-old man killed trying to cross I-5 in Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police have identified the 58-year-old man who was hit by a car and killed as he tried to cross Interstate 5 in Portland.

Emergency crews responded to I-5 southbound near Southwest Hood Avenue at 5:49 a.m. Sunday.

Witnesses attempted CPR on the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 56-year-old Carman Serna, immediately stopped the car after the collision. Investigators said Serna did not display any signs of impairment and cooperated with the investigation.

The man who died was identified Wednesday as 58-year-old Jaweed Sediq Rehman. Police said Rehman was listed as a transient with New York identification. His family in New York was notified of his death.

When the investigation is complete, the case will be presented to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review.
