Police ID woman hit, killed while riding motorized scooter in SE Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A woman who was hit and killed while crossing the street on a motorized scooter has been identified as 84-year-old Francis Weaver.

Police said on Jan. 12, Weaver was riding a motorized scooter and crossing Division at 156th Avenue in a crosswalk when she was hit by a Honda SUV a little after 7:30 a.m.

Medical personnel tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the SUV, 61-year-old Carolyn Bettin, remained at the scene.

Investigators said Bettin was not driving impaired and is cooperating with the investigation.
