ALOHA, OR (KPTV) -

An elderly man suffering from a medical issue crashed his van into an auto parts store and hit an employee, according to firefighters.

Emergency crews responded to the business on the 5900 block of Southwest 185th Avenue in Aloha just after noon Thursday.

Investigators said the driver of the van was in a drive-through at a nearby bank when a medical issue caused him to put the van in reverse.

The van traveled 70 feet before turning sharply and going through a fence. The van then hit a parked pickup and continued another 100 feet into the storefront.

A woman working at the parts counter was taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening.

The driver was also taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK, according to firefighters. A passenger in the van was not hurt.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
