HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

An Oregon State Police senior trooper pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault stemming from an off-duty incident.

James Duncan pleaded guilty Thursday in Washington County circuit court.

OSP was advised of "the conduct" involving Duncan on Oct. 20, 2015, according to an agency release issued Thursday.

No further details were released about the case, only that it was not related to his official police duties.

Duncan was immediately placed on administrative leave pending a criminal investigation by the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Following his plea in court Thursday, he will remain on leave pending the outcome of a personnel review.

Duncan has been employed by OSP for nearly 18 years and is currently stationed at the North Plains worksite.
