A Washington woman was sentenced to nearly 35 years in prison for the death of a 3-year-old boy.

Brenda Wing pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree manslaughter, third-degree assault, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with a witness last May. She was sentenced Friday.

Her husband, Danny Wing, was sentenced to more than 34 years in prison in September 2015.

Police arrested the couple in November 2014.

Investigators said Brenda Wing called 911 from her Vader home to report 3-year-old Jasper Henderling-Warner was unconscious and not breathing.

The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.

Detectives learned the boy was left in the care of the Wings by his mother for several months while she was living in Vancouver.

Investigators said the boy had severe bruises and injuries to his entire body. Brenda and Danny Wing gave explanations for the injuries that were inconsistent with the investigation and autopsy findings, according to detectives.

The cause of death was determined to be chronic battered child syndrome and the manner of death was homicide, the coroner determined.

Brenda and Danny Wing had three young children of their own that were taken into custody by child protective services at the time of their arrests.

The Daily News reported that the boy's mother asked the Wings to care for her son as she tried to find a job and quit using drugs. One of the first responders testified in court that the abuse was something "no human being should ever have to endure."
