David Bowie fans help raise money for cancer research

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Fans of David Bowie gathered to pay tribute to the music legend, and raise money for a good cause.

Bands performed covers of Bowie’s music at the Rose City Food Park on Northeast Sandy Boulevard Saturday, and proceeds from the food carts went towards cancer research.

The owner of one cart was donating part of his sales to a local family whose daughter is battling a brain tumor.

Chris Richardson, the owner of Smak Dab food cart, says the event helps bring in traffic in what is a slow time of the year, and also helps them give back to some people who are struggling.

David Bowie died earlier this month after a battle with cancer.
