WOODLAND, WA (KPTV) -

A man wanted for murder in Klamath County was arrested in Woodland, WA, after allegedly assaulting a man inside his home in Cougar and stealing his daughter's car.

According to the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Department, 26-year-old Matthew Reyes was taken into custody after a police chase. A Woodland Police officer spotted the stolen car driving past him and initiated a pursuit.

Investigators say Reyes and 31-year-old Kareesa Dean stole another vehicle at gunpoint, then drove to Cougar, where Reyes kicked in the door of a home, assaulted the home's owner, and stole his daughter's car.

The home's owner, who asked not to be identified by name, said Reyes hit him in the head with a gun, causing him to briefly lose consciousness. The man said he wasn't seriously hurt.

Investigators later determined Reyes is wanted for murder in Klamath Falls.

Reyes and Dean were lodged in the Cowlitz County jail. They are facing robbery and assault charges.
