SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Co-workers in Milwaukie went in on an office pool for the record-setting $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot, and now they're splitting a $50,000 prize.

The 23 employees at Warn Industries in Milwaukie, a company that specializes in off-road equipment and accessories, matched four numbers and the power ball on one of their tickets.

Ravin Chandra was in charge of the pool and went around the building to different departments asking his fellow employees if they would like to buy Powerball tickets with the group.

"It was something I just thought we should do. I have won three times playing video lottery and so I was the 'lucky one' sent to purchase the tickets," he said.

The group claimed their prize, around $1,700 each after taxes, last week from the Jan. 13 drawing.

"It's not huge money, but it's a cool prize," said David Derr, a 30-year employee of Warn. "I told my family, I couldn't contain it."

They were one number away from sharing the $1.6 billion jackpot.

Several of the winners said they normally don't play lottery, but it sounded fun to do something with co-workers and they enjoyed dreaming together about the massive jackpot.

The employees said Warn Industries gave them time off to travel down to Salem to claim their prize.

Their tickets were purchased at the Tik Tok Deli on Southeast Division Street in Portland.

The three jackpot-winning tickets were sold in Florida, Tennessee and California.

Seven $50,000 winning tickets were sold in Oregon, from lottery retailers in Coos Bay, Grants Pass, Veneta, Baker City, Salem and two in Portland.
