Timbers and Fox 12 renew partnership

Posted: Updated:

FOX 12 Oregon and PDX TV have renewed a multi-year partnership to serve as the local broadcast TV partners of the MLS Champion Portland Timbers.

In partnership with the Timbers, FOX 12 and PDX-TV will air several matches in the upcoming 2016 MLS Season, and will continue to air the popular weekly show "Timbers in 30" on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. on FOX 12.

“FOX 12 and PDX-TV are proud to continue our partnership with the Portland Timbers," Andy Delaporte, Vice President and General Manager of KPTV and KPDX, said. "The bond between the team and the fans is like no other in the country and the ability to bring the unique excitement of Portland Timbers matches to every TV home in the Portland DMA fits so well with the mission of KPTV and KPDX to provide first, live and local coverage to our viewers."

“KPTV has been a terrific broadcast partner since our inaugural MLS season, and we are very pleased to renew our partnership for the 2016 season and beyond,” Mike Golub, president of business operations for the Timbers, said.

The Timbers earlier this month announced their 2016 schedule, which features many national games, including a match with Seattle on July 17 and a showdown with Sporting KC two weeks later that will both air on FOX 12 as part of FOX's national coverage. A complete broadcast schedule that will include a full listing of Timbers games featured on KPTV, KPDX and national broadcast partners will be announced at a later date.

“We are excited to continue providing complete coverage of the Portland Timbers to all fans across Oregon and SW Washington," Corey Hanson, Executive News Director, added. "Both our team and the Timbers are strong believers in the local community; this is truly a winning partnership.”
