Oregon protester challenges Chris Christie to sumo match… really

BURNS, OR (KPTV) -

One of the protesters who has taken over the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge is displeased with Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie’s stance that law enforcement should step in to stop the protest, and he wants to wrestle the New Jersey governor face to face to settle the dispute.

In a video published to YouTube over the weekend, protester Kelly Gneiting, clad in nothing but sumo gear, challenges Christie to a 10-round “bout” and promises that the protesters would “disperse” if the governor could win at least one of the rounds.

Gneiting is actually well known in sumo circles, as a former U.S. Sumo champion, as well as a Guinness World Record Holder as the heaviest person ever to finish a marathon.

Gneiting says he belongs to the Independent American Party, a political group that has supported the protesters' takeover of the refuge outside of Burns..
