PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A memorial flag discovered in the attic of a local home was dropped off at a Portland armory and now military members are hoping to reunite it with its rightful family.

The flag was brought to the Maison Readiness Center, 8801 N. Chautauqua Blvd. It says, "In Loving Memory of Richard M. McLelland."

The woman who found the flag in her home did not have any additional information about it. She was unsure what to do with it, so she brought it to the armory.

Now, members of the Oregon Military Department are hoping to find a living family member of McLelland. If no family members are found, the flag will be given an "honorable resting place."

Anyone with information about the flag is asked to contact Julie.l.trotter.mil@mail.mil.
