BURNS, OR (KPTV) -

The new spokesman for a group of protesters occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Burns is among three people who have been taken into custody by FBI agents.

Along with Oregon State Police, the FBI set up a series of checkpoints at major roads leading in and out of the refuge. Since the checkpoints were established early Wednesday, eight people have left the refuge – five of them have been released and three have been arrested.

At about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the FBI arrested 45-year-old Duane Leo Ehmer of Irrigon, Oregon and 34-year-old Dylan Wade Anderson of Provo, Utah. Refuge occupier and new spokesman Jason S. Patrick, 43, of Bonaire, Georgia was arrested by agents several hours later.

The FBI says each chose to turn himself in to agents at a checkpoint outside refuge. They each face one federal felony count of conspiracy to impede officers of the United States from discharging their official duties through the use of force, intimidation, or threats, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 372.

All three men were taken to the Multnomah County Jail and will appear in court sometime Thursday.

Eight protesters, including group leader Ammon Bundy, were arrested Tuesday after a confrontation with law enforcement. Wednesday morning, the remaining protesters said they had no plans to leave and relinquish the refuge back to federal officials.

However, Bundy said through his lawyer Wednesday that he wants the rest of the occupiers to go home.

Bundy's lawyers said Thursday morning that they will be meeting with Bundy and then holding a press conference outside the federal courthouse at 11 a.m.
