Man in critical condition after hit-and-run in Yamhill Co.; person of interest found

YAMHILL COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A pedestrian is in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash in rural Yamhill County early Friday morning.

According to the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 3 a.m.  to the report of an injured pedestrian in a ditch on Westside Road, just north of Cummings Road.

The victim, Benjamin Lee Stonebrink, 36, of Amity was found unresponsive, and was taken to a local hospital. He was later transported to OHSU. 

According to deputies, evidence at the scene indicated that Stonebrink was hit by a car which left the scene.

The suspected vehicle was located at a residence on Lincoln Avenue in the Cove Orchard community, according to deputies.

Deputies said a person of interest has been found, and interviews are taking place.

Criminal charged are expected to be filed.
